A play between inside and outside
reveals an
undulating structure incorporating a potted forest of trees and branching steel
beams, uniting the two buildings. This urban treehouse combines
a simple, white, neutral space with a fairly subtle, external black granite
cladding. This small amount of architecture
gives a profound result by physically joining the two buildings, being able to open up, adapting to the seasons. The tree’s seasonal progression also creates an ideal
microclimate inside the spaces. Striking the
right balance between simple and powerful is key in illustrating the more interesting, more complex views of the instution.
